Polk County has the 5th highest rate of suburban poverty in the nation. Homelessness and hunger have become a challenge to our community as more than 100,000 neighbors here are considered food insecure — which means they don’t always know where their next meal is coming from. Families are faced with making tough choices between paying bills and buying groceries.
We work alongside community partners to provide meals in two locations throughout Polk County.
Local churches work alongside us to provide community meals for homeless men, women and families. We also fill and distribute food boxes to families who may have a roof over their heads but are struggling to put food on the table.
