After her daughter was sexually abused by her own father, Brooke was determined to get her and her six children as far away as possible. So she traveled from New Jersey to stay with her brother in Tampa in hopes of a fresh start.
Unfortunately, her job laid her off because she was pregnant. Unable to pay rent, Brooke’s brother kicked her and her children out, leaving them homeless right before the holidays.
Scared for her children, Brooke sought help at Metropolitan Ministries. Upon their arrival, Brooke was nervous. With six kids and one on the way, a homeless shelter was the last place she wanted to be, but she seized every opportunity to focus on a successful future.
At Metro, Brooke received job training, one-on-one counseling and parenting workshops. She was finally able to focus on herself and her children because she was not worried about finding food or shelter every night.
“Metropolitan Ministries helped me find a career, something that will pay enough to live on my own.”
Brooke’s experience taught her the importance of self-sufficiency and how to make plans with HOPE, rather than living day-to-day in fear.
“Metro has taught me that whatever you’re struggling with, keep moving forward.”
Because of YOU, moms like Brooke have the opportunity to stay in a safe environment while they get back on their feet. Will you help more moms like Brooke find Hope?
