Kristiana was trapped in a cruel, heartless relationship. Now she’s beginning a new life — thanks to YOU!
When Kristiana’s boyfriend began hitting her, she had to make the most courageous decision of her life.
She finally found the courage to leave the relationship, but didn't have a home to go back to.
At first, she continued to work. Working but homeless, she would now be solely responsible for all the expenses for her and her daughter: hotel, food, gas and car insurance, and diapers.
“If I couldn’t pay the bills, I was going to be out on the streets,” she remembers thinking.
But then she thought about her daughter.
“When my daughter eventually meets a man, I don’t want her to think that love is all about hitting.”
But then Kristiana got sick, missed a lot of time and lost her job.
Determined to keep moving forward, she enrolled in our employment training courses where she ended up getting not one — but TWO! — jobs.
“It was such a God thing,” she says. “Now my daughter and I get to spend evenings and weekends together. She means the world to me.”
Kristiana says she’ll never forget the weeks she spent at Metropolitan Ministries getting her life back on track.
“Metro doesn’t make you feel like you’re homeless,” she says. “When you’re here, you don’t feel like an outsider.”
These days, Kristiana is working at Metropolitan Ministries' Social Enterprise business Dough Nation, as their Executive Chef! She creates all the recipes for their gourmet cookie dough!
We're so proud of Kristiana and how far she has come despite her painful past.
80% of the women who come to Metropolitan Ministries are the victims of verbal or physical abuse, just like Kristiana was. Your gifts today are helping them to heal, and begin a new life journey that’s sure to lead to a better tomorrow.
Thank you for keeping hope alive right here in Tampa Bay!
