For most people, the holidays are a time of joyful giving, receiving and celebrating. But for many families, it is filled with worry and fear. Fear about how they will put food on the table for a good Thanksgiving meal, or worry about how they will be able to afford Christmas gifts for their kids. These families in the community need YOUR help to turn their holiday worries into HOPE.

Jamie’s family was one of those families last year. Right before Thanksgiving, her husband got laid off from work. With no income, five hungry mouths to feed and bills piling up, Jamie’s family quickly exhausted the little they had saved up. Her biggest concern was for her three children. “It’s hard for me to see my kids make sacrifices – really hard.” She broke down and cried often, usually after the kids went to sleep.

Then, they found Metropolitan Ministries! Jamie and her family were able to get a shopping basket full of food for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner – all the fixings included!

“This means a lot to me and my family,” she said, the tears welling up in her eyes. “It’s good that there are places like this when families need help.”

Too many families are struggling this year – especially after Hurricane Irma – to have hope for the holidays. We couldn’t be here for them in their time of need without your help. Thank you for giving at this critical time – your faithful and generous support means the world to us!
