Host a Drive

Choose the type of drive you want to do and start collecting! It’s that simple! We can schedule drives for a couple weeks or a couple months. We’ll even provide you with printable flyers for our most popular types of drives. We can provide you with collection barrels or boxes to use during your collection. You can schedule a time to come pick them up or we can have them delivered!

Hope starts with a meal! Anyone can host a food drive – individuals, businesses, civic organizations, congregations, and many more. Thanks to you, we provide nearly 1.5 million meals every year to hungry people in our community. Help collect our most needed holiday food items and put hope on a family’s holiday table.

  Volunteer throughout Tampa Bay

    Red Apron Volunteers

    Red Apron Volunteers serve as leaders in our Holiday Tent by providing support for staff, direction for other volunteers, and most importantly quality service for families in need. We need Red Aprons for the following teams in the Holiday Tent: Client Care, Volunteer Services, Donor Services, Operations, and Childcare.

    Red Apron Requirements:

    • Attendance to one Red Apron Orientation. All details, sign-up information, and description of each area will be discussed at orientation.
    • A commitment to at least three, four hour shifts during both Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday distribution
    • Must be an adult (18 & up) - exceptions can be made for high school students with heavy experience at Metropolitan Ministries.
    • No volunteer experience at Metropolitan Ministries is required. Training will be provided.

    Red Apron Benefits:

    • Chance to work behind the scenes at one of the top non-profs in Tampa Bay
    • Be an instrument of change in your community
    • Utilize your leadership skills to shape our volunteer corps
    • A really cool red T-shirt that you can’t buy anywhere else (including eBay)

    Client registration process begins at the Holiday Tent.

    Do I Qualify?

    Individuals and families with minor age children (0-17) struggling financially.

  • Families that are currently receiving Food Stamps, Cash Assistance, Medicaid, SSI, SSD, and Unemployment Benefits
  • Senior citizens, 60 years or older, struggling financially and or receiving social security income only
  • What Do I Bring?

  • Photo I.D. for applying adults
  • Social Security cards or birth certificates for individuals, spouses, and minor children in the household
  • Grandparents need proof of custody of grandchildren
  • Proof of SSI, SSD or unemployment benefits
  • Current utility bill (electric - water) or lease agreement
