40 Days of Hope

Your prayers are needed.  From Thanksgiving to Christmas, Metropolitan Ministries received nearly 9,000 written prayer requests from families seeking comfort and refuge in our Chapel of Hope. At Metropolitan Ministries, we sense a spiritual renewal in our ministry and in our community.  So much love and care was poured on those in need over the holidays by members of our community.  We want to keep the spirit alive for another 40 days.

3 Different Ways You Can Help:

  1. Individuals, businesses, congregations, schools, civic and social groups, etc. can conduct a food drive for 100 every day ‘Boxes of Hope’ for distribution at our Outreach Center.
  2. Pray for those who sent out their own humble wishes by obtaining an actual prayer request book.
  3. Make a monetary donation if you are unable to conduct a food drive, and we will build the boxes for you.

For more information on how you can make a difference, please contact Angie Pattison at 813.209. 1034 or angie.pattison@metromin.org.

Why 40 days?  The number 40 is significant throughout Scripture. There were 40 days of the flood in Noah’s time.  The Israelites wandered for 40 years before they could enter the promise land and experience a new blessing.  Moses, Elijah and Jesus fasted and prayed for 40 days before beginning their work.  In the Christian tradition, there are 40 days of Lent leading up to the Easter celebration.
