Sheri was a young girl who came to us along with her mom for some food. As her mom gathered the groceries, one of our volunteers offered her a snack. Sheri said, “Oh, I’m fine. I don’t need all this. Can I take it home for my brother and sister to eat? Here was this young girl who had been going hungry, setting aside her own needs so her brothers and sisters at home would have a little something to eat. It really speaks to the extent of hunger in our community. Your gift helps provide meals and services to families like hers.

400 families each year are prevented from becoming homeless through our services

Families who are on the brink of homelessness or have become homeless often don’t know there is help available for them. Sometimes, state services can provide just what they need to get through the crisis. But it isn’t easy to navigate the system. Other times, a family needs more than just a patch on their problem.

Our Tampa and Holiday Outreach Centers are partner sites for the Department of Children and Families, which means we’re able to provide immediate assistance with applications for state benefits and help families navigate crisis.
