Rose was in an abusive relationship, and after one particularly serious fight, her daughter was bleeding from broken glass. It was in that moment that Rose knew she had to leave no matter what it took. Having no family in the Tampa area and no source of income or shelter, Rose felt hopeless and scared for her daughter. That is when she came to Metropolitan Ministries, and her life changed for the better. Rose felt a sense of hope when arriving at Metropolitan Ministries. She started taking classes on campus and regained strength and courage. She was able to go back to school, enrolled and graduated from a nursing program, and is now a registered nurse, married with an expanded family and self-sufficient.
As many as 80% of our current resident families are fleeing life-threatening domestic violence. Can you imagine? Supportive housing and the right programs can keep a family like this from living on the streets or couch surfing. MiraclePlace® provides a vital community for homeless and at risk families to receive help, hope and support while they get back on their feet.
While some of these families simply need assistance in finding affordable housing solutions, many need intensive counseling to overcome the trauma associated with years of abuse and homelessness. MiraclePlace® is about the promise of a better life and restoring hope.
