Our Mission Metropolitan Ministries’ mission is to care for the homeless and those at risk of becoming homeless in our community through services that alleviate suffering, promote dignity and instill self-sufficiency...as an expression of the ongoing ministry of Jesus Christ.
Our Vision Metropolitan Ministries will be one of America's most effective caregivers to the poor and homeless.
Our programs will be known for their compassion and innovation in helping Tampa's struggling families and individuals achieve their highest potential for self-sufficiency.
Our approach to involving Tampa's citizens in understanding and caring for their disadvantaged will serve as a replicable model for other communities.
Our caregiving will be supported by an exemplary staff, high-quality facilities, dedicated volunteers, donors and collaborative partners.
Above all, our witness will be to the power of Christian love in healing broken lives and building strong, caring communities.
Our Guiding Values
Christian Witness We are called by God to follow the teachings and example of Jesus Christ. In keeping with our Christian witness, we help anyone needing our services and invite all to join us in support of our mission.
Dignity We respect every individual’s God-given dignity and worth, and this respect pervades our daily caregiving.
Responsibility We are committed to helping individuals and families become responsible for themselves and positive contributors to our community. We help people to improve themselves by giving them opportunity, values and encouragement.
Quality Care We are committed to providing comprehensive care that holistically addresses the spiritual, physical and emotional needs of families and individuals. We expect our care to be known for its innovation and effectiveness. Our services include providing food, clothing, shelter, medical assistance, intercessory prayer, child care, case management, counseling, discipleship, rehabilitation, job and life skill training and transitional support.
Community Involvement We are able to provide our caregiving because of a concerned and compassionate community. We are committed to nurturing this involvement by continually educating and challenging the general public. Our Board, volunteers and donors are the heart of this local initiative.
Stewardship We are called by God to be good stewards of the resources entrusted to us. We depend upon His provision through broad-based community support.
Staff Team We are committed to recruiting and developing high quality staff that are called to our mission. We foster a sense of Christian community among our staff, encouraging teamwork and the open exchange of ideas. We expect our staff to be known for their leadership, character and compassion.
Cooperation We are committed to working with other organizations to avoid duplicating services, enhance community spirit and ensure that the families and individuals we serve receive the best possible care.
