Not Your Ordinary Thrift Store

At first glance, Metropolitan Ministries Thrift Store may look like any other thrift store in the community. However revenue is not our thrift store’s primary goal. In fact, the store is an extension of our programs.

Our residents and clients who have clothing needs receive vouchers to “shop” for themselves in a way that is dignified and personal. Our thrift store also accepts referrals from the American Red Cross, helping fire and disaster victims. In fact, nearly 1,000 people receive items, at no cost to them, each month.

Additionally, as families prepare to leave the Ministries and move into the community, they can purchase needed furniture and household items at a significantly reduced cost. And the store serves as a low-cost shopping alternative for low income families in our community.

Donations of “gently” used items such as clothing, books, shoes, linens, furniture and small household appliances are always needed to stock our thrift store so we can help meet the needs of poor and homeless families.

Our thrift store, located at 2101 North Florida Avenue in Tampa, is open:

  • Tuesday – Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The store is closed on Sundays, Mondays and holidays.
