WHY VOLUNTEER AT METROPOLITAN MINISTRIES?
For 38 years, we’ve partnered with hundreds of thousands of individual volunteers, churches, schools, civic groups, corporations, and other organizations from throughout Florida and around the country to faithfully address the needs of our homeless and at-risk neighbors. While the statistics address the need, our track record, stewardship, and life changing impact tell the story. Yet, it is the volunteer corps that forms the hands and heart of the ministry. Over 20,000 volunteers partner with us annually to bring hope to those most in need. They, and you, are our greatest resource! So if you’ve never been by to see us, chances are one of your neighbors, coworkers, or classmates have! You can talk to them, come by for an Orientation, or simply give us a call. We offer an array of volunteer opportunities to match your skills, interests and schedule with our mission. Here’s how to get started.
OUR VOLUNTEER CENTER
The Volunteer Team is located at 2001 N. Florida Ave--the small, white house on the right side of Florida Ave. This is where you'll sign in to volunteer or find us when we're not running around with other volunteers. You can access our parking lot by turning right just BEFORE our building and then left down the first alley. If you pass us, then just make the next right and then right down the alley. Parking is also available behind 2002 N. Florida Ave (across the street in the gravel lot). Feel free to stop by and say "Hey!"

JULY VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH

NEEDS OF THE MONTH
- Painters needed! Must have semi-professional skills as you will be doing our public areas. There's enough work here to occupy someone 60-hours a week, so please don't be bashful.
- Do you have computer graphics and design skills? Interested in interning with our Marketing Dept? If so, please call quickly. We're looking for 10-20 hours per week.
- Bilingual "shopper" is needed in the afternoons in our Metro Market. This is probably the most popular place to volunteer in the Ministry, but this position requires some leadership skills and availability throughout the year during the week in the early afternoon.
- Our date entry is in danger of falling behind without some dedicated souls who don't mind typing and hanging out in a cubicle with other volunteers. Could possibly convert to a seasonal hire during the holidays.
- Electrician/IT Specialist to assit with wiring our holiday tent in the fall. This is a big job with a big payoff. Please call if you can volunteer your time towards this very important effort.
- Tutors needed! We need a few tutors/mentors to help out on Thursdays in our Adult Education Program from 2:00-4:00pm.
