Service Providers Advisory Network
The mission of S.P.A.N. (Service Providers Advisory Network) is to strengthen working relationships among community service providers and to create a network for sharing information about services being provided by local agencies, organizations, and ministries.
S.PA.N. was founded in May 1990 by Morgan Fernandez (former Metropolitan Ministries manager of Outreach and Prevention Services) and is hosted by the Ministries. S.P.A.N. was created in response to the Hillsborough County Needs Assessment Study, which found that there was not a central meeting point for service providers to share information with each other.
S.P.A.N. forums are scheduled monthly, usually the last Thursday of the month from January to September.
Keynote speakers give a broad over view of needs and services in our community, as well as highlighting future service possibilities. Other related service representatives are invited to provide copies of their brochures or publications and participate in case scenario discussions.
S.P.A.N. is a self-funded group and a $1.00 donation is requested for each person attending the meeting. Receipts are provided.
