Housing

The Metropolitan Ministries' Sanctuary at Waters Avenue Town Homes ~ Affordable Housing

The Metropolitan Ministries' Sanctuary at Waters Avenue town homes were developed in response to the growing need for affordable housing in the Tampa Bay Community.  The initiative is open to families who have graduated from the Ministries self-sufficiency program, Uplift U®, graduates of other transitional housing programs for families, as well as any currently homeless family which can meet income guidelines.  All residents will be paired with family mentors to help families achieve full self-sufficiency.

 Uplift U® Transitional Housing

101 families with 193 children have been helped through our Uplift U® Family Care Center this year. Uplift U® provides food, housing, counseling, and education for up to 18 months. Housing is also available off-site in neighborhoods allowing families to live independently while still receiving our services.  An additional seven families are helped through this program known as Community of Promise.

H.O.M.E.S

Residents of Metropolitan Ministries Transitional Housing Program are aided by a faith-based mentoring program called H.OM.E.S and continued access to the Ministries children's and counseling services, giving each resident a support team that helps them as needed in their transition and encourages them toward success.

The H.O.M.E.S mentor model was developed by Hyde Park United Methodist Church and is a model we hope other congregations will consider adopting as our housing programs expand.  This program also receives vital and generous support from corporate supporters and the LAMPLighters.
