Something to smile about on Christmas Day
It’s the season of hope at Metropolitan Ministries, and we’ve been inspired as you’ve rallied to help turn things around for so many neighbors in need. In fact, your generosity even shows up as an Amazon Prime delivery to the Holiday Tent in Old West Tampa.
With Christmas just days away, we are working to gather enough food and toys for 17,000 struggling families. That includes toys for 30,000 children.
You can imagine our surprise when Amazon made a special delivery for the data-consulting firm Pragmatic Works.

Jayna Somma, an employee of Pragmatic Works, was awarded the prestigious Company Culture Award for in November. Her award also included a $300 gift card to Amazon. Without thinking twice, Jayna reached out to founder and CEO, Brian Knight, to see if she could use her award money to purchase gifts for families who need it the most.
Often we hear stories of families already struggling to make ends meet and cannot imagine having holiday toys for their children. Stories like Jackie’s, the grandmother who broke down into tears at our Holiday Tent after getting a bike to for her grandchildren, are a reminder of the need we still need to meet for Christmas.
Inspired by Jayna’s generosity, Brian called us to see what toy items our families needed the most. He then graciously offered to match her donation to help twice as many families. Making it a family affair, Brian’s children joined in and helped to pick the toys for our families.
With just a few clicks, the Knight family sent this surprise delivery directly to the Holiday Tent on Cyber Monday.
Because of this act of love and kindness, parents will witness their children filled with joy on Christmas Day as they open their gifts.
This outpouring of support blows us away. Because of Jayna’s and Brian’s compassion, more families will receive hope this holiday season.
