FEATURED ON ABC Action News: Hillsborough’s Pathways to Hope to help students at risk of homelessness

We are very excited to announce that the #PathwaysToHope program in partnership with the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County (CBHC) and the School District of Hillsborough County was unanimously approved yesterday by the Hillsborough County School Board.

Metropolitan Ministries is providing homeless intervention and prevention wraparound services and the case management staff which are funded by a CBHC grant. The program aims to identify and help those students in the county who are at risk of becoming homeless or miss school due to difficult family circumstances before the family gets to a crisis situation.

“We want to be able to give and offer services to give a hand up to those individuals before they become a part of the homeless population. We know how difficult it is to dig ourselves out of homelessness,” said Huey Dunomes, Associate VP of Community-based Programs at Metropolitan Ministries.

Ten schools in the district with a high number of students facing homelessness have been identified. To learn more about the Pathways to Hope Program, watch the ABC Action News story.
