Health and Wellness Partner Highlight: The St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital Mobile Medical Clinic

The St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital Mobile Medical Clinic bus has graciously partnered with us to bring medical care right to our Tampa campus once a week.

FOX 13 visited our campus recently to tour the bus and learn about its capabilities.

Residents can bring their children to the bus for minor illnesses, well child exams, hearing and vision screenings, immunizations, and general health education.

“Our mission is to ensure that there as little barriers to care as possible.”

One of our residents brought her two kids, 2-year-old son, and 4-month-old daughter, to the bus when they had colds.

She told FOX, “It was super convenient,” she said. “I feed them lunch. Within two minutes of us eating lunch I was able to walk right over to the bus.”

There are four staff-members on the bus, including a board-certified nurse practitioner, a registered nurse, a licensed practical nurse, and a health educator.

Kate Kennedy of St. Joseph’s told FOX, “Our mission is to ensure that there as little barriers to care as possible. We can provide medication for kids who need it and just treat minor sicknesses that come up in everyday life for parents and kids.”

“We basically bring Baycare outside of the hospital walls into the community,” Kate added.

Our resident is so thankful for the bus and noted, “It just makes things a lot easier. I didn’t have to travel two or three buses to get to the doctor.”

Thank you, St. Josephs and Baycare, for being hope to our residents and investing in their health and wellness. This bus is a huge blessing.
