Bea crunched the numbers one more time, even though she knew there was no way to afford rent, babysitting, and tuition. She’d have to give up school to work full-time.

“I did not have a support system,” she says. “There were moments where I had to figure out how I was going to provide for my kids.”

Bea remembers depression slowly squeezing the life out of her. “I started to wish I wasn’t here,” she says. “I was just in survival mode.” Every place Bea tried to call home ended in an eviction notice.

She began to wonder, Maybe I should let somebody else raise my kids because I don’t have it together.

“I was given stability here, and I’m able to continue my education,” says Bea. “I’m so thankful for Metro Ministries. My kids get to experience a very good childhood that I didn’t have. We were able to start over.”
