Stuck in a Brandon hotel, homeless family almost out of time and money
Shenika Zunich lost work because of the pandemic and ended up living in a hotel with her two children. She’s close to the top of a housing wait list, but that help may not come soon enough.
BRANDON — At least once a week, Shenika Zunich calms the nerves in her stomach and calls the Pasco County Housing Authority.
Back in January, she was number 275 on the agency’s waiting list. A week ago, it was 65. On Tuesday, 62.
A housing voucher, she has no doubt, will change her life. It would mean a stable, affordable home for her and her two children. It would mean no longer sharing a king-sized bed in the Brandon hotel room they have lived in since August.
